Lie Detection - why Lie Detection?

Accurate lie detection solves cases, saves investigative man hours, get the right people for the right job, and that saves money.

Studies show for every rand lost to shoplifting, about R20 is lost to internal theft. About 60% of all bankruptcies are caused by internal theft. When book keepers, accountants, and other high level employees embezzle, that will put a company out of business. Employees with access to computers can destroy a company by stealing information or erasing data. Industrial espionage is a worldwide problem that can affect all types of businesses.

Candidates today are extremely sophisticated and have professional support from coaches and recruitment agencies with one goal in mind - to groom them to land their dream job. You may find when you first meet a candidate or read their resume that they seem ideally suited for your role. However, you find that after several months of working with this new employee, their natural style becomes evident, their interview mask fades!

Trade secrets such as military, industrial, and others, if stolen, can mean a company’s profits and stock prices will collapse. Loss of a company secret can bankrupt a company. Global terrorism today requires companies to know everything about their employees so they do not hire people that only want to disrupt or destroy the company. No paper or pencil type honesty tests, including psychological question tests, can do what the we can do.

Courts are holding companies responsible for the actions of their employees. Security today is a high priority. But, security is only thought of in terms of protection from “outsiders”. The real risk is from the inside.

Security guards usually get very low security screening, but they are the ones with access to everything of value to a business. Lie detection testing of security guards will indicate which candidates will be the best and most reliable.

Not only does pre-employment testing improve the odds in hiring quality people but it improves your chances in managing them effectively.

Security clearances today are for the security and welfare of every business, its employees, and for the public. insurance companies  - claims that could cost a insurance company millions of rands per claim. The cost of insurance fraud is always passed to the customers.


FOR WHAT CAN I TEST?

Most of the instances where testing results are used for investigative purposes are:

  • Loss control and theft by employees or outsiders / visitors
  • Fraud and other criminal acts
  • Sabotage
  • Industrial espionage (Sometimes it is very useful to know employees are not involved)

Testing is also used in the following areas:

  • Employee screening and vetting before appointment in sensitive positions
  • Periodical testing of employees appointed or serving in sensitive positions.
 

In screening the following areas may be inquired into (but not limited to):

  • Past honesty and undetected dishonesty including theft and fraud (at work)
  • Financial burdens or serious debt
  • Real reasons for leaving previous employment
  • Gambling and other bad habits
  • Actual educational levels and experience
  • Drug or alcohol abuse
  • Criminal acts or tendencies
  • Valid drivers licenses
  • Actual driving record
  • Real reason for applying for this particular position at employer.

Testing - Incident specific.
Any situation where you need to establish the truth of who knows what and who did what. In incidences of theft, fraud, embezzlement, loss,
damage etc. we will establish the facts so you can take informed action. High legal costs are avoided and time savings are achieved when
deceptive staff/people are quickly identified and dealt with.

Periodic Testing (monthly, quarterly, yearly)
Honesty maintenance enables employers to control and eliminate staff dishonesty.

Pre-Employment Testing
Used to verify the truthfulness of credentials and information given by potential employees. Past undetected dishonesty can be revealed at this stage.
(Also, Gambling, drug and alcohol abuse, actual educational levels and experience etc.)

Sexual Offender Testing
An innocent person can quickly and confidentially be excluded from false accusations and a guilty person identified, to enable further investigation.
